Physiotherapy is the application of exercises based on scientific principles adapted to joint recovery and muscular strengthening, with the aim of returning the musculoskeletal system to a degree of functional harmony that is as complete as possible.
It is used following or in preparation for orthopaedic reconstructive surgery.
Physiotherapy is aimed at anyone hospitalised for orthopaedic reconstructive surgery. Patients receive immediate post-operative physiotherapy within the hospital, and may also receive outpatient treatment on discharge.
"The aim of physiotherapy is to restore a limb segment to its previous function.
The resources used to provide care are adapted to the specific needs of this surgery. To achieve this, physiotherapy requires the use of arthromotor devices and postural techniques for good joint recovery, as well as a range of equipment designed to strengthen the muscles (bicycles, steppers, treadmills, presses, etc.).
Knee ligament laxity tests are also carried out at the surgeon's request.
